Ambulance Authority Sees Results from Collection Agency

“I think it was a real wake-up call for some people.”

Paul Lewis, President of the Hardy County Emergency Ambulance Authority told the board of directors the collection agency hired last year is producing results. “We probably got between $4,000 and $5,000,” he said.

At the September 2017 meeting, the HCEAA board voted to engage Valley Collections from Charlottesville, Va. to collect unpaid ambulance fees. The company keeps 30 percent of the collections.

“Now people know they will go to collections if they don’t pay their bill,” Lewis said.
