Of all the pressing issues that came before the Hardy County Commission on Tuesday, the subject that illicited the most discussion had to do with dogs.

County Assessor Jim Wratchford appeared before the commission to request payment for livestock killed by dogs.

“Donnie Smith is requesting $805 to replace sheep that were killed by dogs,” Wratchford said. “This will come out of the Dog Fund.”

“What repercussions are there for the person who owns the dogs?” Commission President William “JR” Keplinger asked.
