County Commission Requests Dept. of Highways Address Road Projects

An access road from the Robert C. Byrd Industrial Part to Corridor H, a turning lane on Route 55 at the Child Care Center and repairs to sections of Sauerkraut Road were just a few of the items on a list the Hardy County Commission sent to Byrd White, West Virginia Secretary of Transportation and Jimmy Wriston, Acting Commissioner of the Division of Highways. “These are projects we’ve been working on for several years,” said Hardy County Commission President Harold Michael.

The Hardy County Commission met on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Other items on the list include the completion of Corridor H from Wardensville to the Virginia line, an access road from Caledonia Heights to the Corridor H Moorefield Exit ramp, the removal of a passing lane at the Mathias/Baker Volunteer Fire Department and a review of Route 220 South.

The commissioners also requested tree growth under the Petersburg/Moorefield Gap Bridge and rock debris under the South Fork River Bridge in Moorefield be addressed. In both instances, the letter indicates water flow is impeded.
