Judge Questions Forgery Charge

By Jean A. Flanagan
Moorefield Examiner

Coleman Coppe-Strawder, 36, of Moorefield was all set to plead guilty to one count of forgery on Thursday, Jan. 4. He said he understood the charges. He said his attorney reviewed his Constitutional rights and those he was waiving by pleading guilty. He said he was willing to pay restitution.

But when Circuit Court Judge C. Carter Williams asked Coppe-Strawder to admit, under oath, what he did, it became apparent Coppe-Strawder did not commit forgery.
