Hardy County voters will have the opportunity to decide if ambulance service will be paid with a levy on their tax bill. The Hardy County Commission voted to put the question on the November ballot at their meeting held Tuesday, Aug. 7.
“We’re not laying a levy on anybody,” Commissioner Harold Michael said. “We are giving the citizens the opportunity to decide.”
The levy requires 60 percent of the voters to approve it to pass. It would be assessed on all classes of real estate, including vehicles, effective July 1, 2019. The assessed rate would be as follows:
Class I – $0.0469 per $100 of assessed value
Class II – $0.0938 per $100 of assessed value
Class III – $$0.1876 per $100 of assessed value
Class IV – $0.1876 per $100 of assessed value
