An old proverb says that “patience is a virtue”.
Moorefield senior graduate Lane Ours developed the upmost patience and persevered past hurdles with tremendous dedication to communicate and showcase his talent to collegiate coaches as his final campaign was negated by the pandemic.
This commitment to strengthening his baseball skills and knowledge enabled Ours to make lemonade out of the lemons in seeking his goal joining the baseball program at Waynesburg University.
“I am very excited to be blessed with this opportunity, it has always been a dream in my life to play collegiate baseball and this is something I will never forget,” Lane Ours remarked.
“I wanted to thank Coach [Scott] Stutler for setting this up, he told me about the school and he knew I still had several options and I told him what not and this ‘extra option’ happened to be my go-to. What kept me motivated the most is definitely my work ethic and always having a positive attitude towards everything you do in life and to not let anything get you down. I told myself I was going to play at the next level and I’ve been going to the cages nearly everyday after work and hitting and throwing some long toss with my brother and a couple other local college guys.”
