Northern Garrett Bests Jackets in Football

The Northern Garrett Huskies barked to a 33-nil shutout over Moorefield last Friday at Yellow Jacket Field.


Northern Garrett converted a fourth down deep in the red zone for the first touchdown as Zach Hallenback connected with Isaac Bittinger dashing across the middle of the end zone at the 6:07 mark and the extra point was good.


The Huskies (5-1) forced Moorefield (4-3) into a three and out and blocked the Yellow Jackets punt to regain possession at the Moorefield 17-yard line with under five minutes left in the first quarter.


Hallenback scored on a seven yard run for Northern Garrett taking a 13-0 advantage at the 3:17 mark.


The Yellow Jackets faced fourth down and inches and elected to go for it near midfield, but Northern Garrett made the defensive stop.


Hunter Meyers created a huge run into the red zone for the Huskies to end the first quarter.


Moorefield’s defense responds with a big stop preventing a fourth down conversion and took over possession at the 14-yard line.


The Yellow Jackets moved the first down chains for the first time in the game, but Northern Garrett stymies the drive and nearly made another block on the punt.


There was a running into the punter penalty creating another punt attempt and big return by Jake Rush plus a personal foul gave Northern Garrett possession at the Moorefield 26-yard line.


Hunter Meyers scored on a 19-yard touchdown run for the Huskies and the extra point was made extending the lead to 20-0 with 5:47 remaining in the first half.


The Yellow Jackets fumbled the ball on the next series and Northern Garrett’s Jacob Glotfelty recovered at the Moorefield 36-yard line.
Northern Garrett field to take advantage of the turnover and punted to the 12-yard line forcing a fair catch.


The Yellow Jackets connect on a deep passing play reaching the Northern Garrett 30-yard line, then a holding penalty and sack backed them up facing third down and 27 at the 47-yard line with 40 seconds to go in the half.


Another Huskies sack forces a Moorefield punt as Northern Garrett takes a knee and carries a 20-o lead into halftime.


Moorefield started the second half at its 37-yard line and the Huskies defense pushed the Yellow Jackets back for a long fourth down punt with a big return by Rush aided by a shoulder plow.


Northern Garrett’s Jamison Warnick made a ten yard touchdown run and the conversion failed for a 26-0 lead with 6:59 remaining in the third quarter.


The Yellow Jackets series comes to a halt due to a sack leading to a punt.


The Huskies added one more touchdown in the fourth quarter on a five yard move up the gut by Meyers for the 33-0 final score.
