Nearly 30 percent of the Emergency Ambulance Fee billed to businesses has not been paid, according to executive assistant Tina Todd.

Todd presenting the information to the Hardy County Emergency Ambulance Authority at the meeting held on Wednesday, March 14.

Todd said a total of $45,860 was billed to businesses and $13,620 was uncollected. Of the largest employers in the county, only Wal-Mart has not paid.

Moorefield resident Fran Stickley asked if businesses would be assessed the same late fee as residents, if their bills aren’t paid by the end of June.
HCEAA Board President Paul Lewis said there was no provision in the ordinance to assess late fees on businesses.
