According to Charles ‘Chip’ Bolyard director of Institutional and Student Advancement, 22 students at Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College have participated in the West Virginia Invests program, meaning they didn’t pay a cent for tuition. “Two of those have completed their programs of study,” Bolyard said.
In 2019 the West Virginia Legislature passed SB 1, known as the Free Community College Bill. It covers the cost of tuition to any of the state’s public community colleges as well as West Virginia University Potomac State.
