West Virginia Teachers Go Back to Work

At just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, Governor Jim Justice signed HB 4145 into law. The legislation, passed by the House of Delegates, amended by the Senate and finally approved by a Conference Committee, increased the base salary of teachers, service personnel and West Virginia State Police troopers by 5 percent. The Governor’s signature ended the longest teacher work stoppage in West Virginia history. It began on Thursday, Feb. 22.
