Moorefield High School Baseball junior pitcher Isaac Van Meter was selected to the 2020 Rawlings-Perfect Game Preseason Underclass All-American High Honorable Mention Team.

Van Meter was one of the high honorable mention selections as an underclassman for the Atlantic Region which includes Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

There are eight regions in the country with 300 players selected to first, second and third teams in addition to the high honorable mention teams.

Van Meter’s recognition has been growing each season during his high school and recently made a verbal commitment to NCAA Division I Mount St. Mary’s University.

“I’m extremely honored to have the national recognition. All thanks to Jesus Christ,” Moorefield junior Isaac Van Meter noted.

During last summer, Van Meter played with the Flood City Elite baseball travel program playing at colleges throughout the region.

Last June, Van Meter helped to lead Moorefield Baseball to back-to-back state championships and the team is hoping for a return to Charleston if the season resumes after the COVID-19 pandemic dissipates.

Van Meter’s sophomore season was remarkable with an 8-0 pitching record along with a 0.636 ERA and 73 strikeouts, then at the plate notching a 0.325 batting average with 26 RBIs and 35 runs.

When not on the mound, Van Meter is the shortstop.

The season numbers enabled Van Meter to garner more notoriety being selected to the 2019 West Virginia Class A Baseball All-State First Team and named the Potomac Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Year.

Rawlings and Perfect Game have partnered together to select the best-of-the-best in the nation and Van Meter has risen among the baseball elite.

Rawlings is a well-known sporting goods company specializing in baseball equipment and Perfect Game is a premier amateur baseball scouting organization.
