On Sunday, April 12, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a call was received by the Hardy County 911 Center reporting a woman calling for help on Cedar Street in Moorefield.
Officers from the Moorefield Police Department were dispatched and located a female victim in the driveway of an apartment complex. Members of the WV State Police and Hardy and Grant County Sheriff’s Department also responded.
Statements obtained indicated that she was the victim of multiple stab wounds as the result of a domestic altercation. The wounds were allegedly inflicted by her estranged boyfriend Joseph Ograbisz, 31, of Moorefield.
The victim was transported to the Grant Memorial Hospital by Fraley Ambulance and then transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital and since released to convalesce at home. Ograbisz fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. A warrant charging attempted murder was issued by Hardy County Magistrate Craig Hose for [private]Ograbisz.
On Saturday, April 18, 2020, members of the Moorefield Police Department and Hardy County Sheriff’s Department located and arrested Ograbisz at a residence on Fort Run Road in the Moorefield area. Ograbisz was arraigned by Hardy County Magistrate Shawna Crites. He was incarcerated in the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond.[/private]
