Bernard Franklin Bean, husband of Jean Thorne Bean, of Verona, Virginia passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Bean was born in Hardy County, West Virginia on August 7, 1938, a son of the late Ellen Ludella and Ouvard Bean.
Bernard retired after working for Smith’s Transfer and Staunton Foods with 48 years of service. He was a member of Verona United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Verona Volunteer Fire Department, and Boy Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 121 in Verona for many years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bean was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Carolina.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 66 years, are his sons, Greg Bean and his wife, Roxanne, Jeff Bean and his wife, Carolyn, and Wes Bean and his wife, Carolyn; grandchildren, Logan Bean and his wife, Amber, Benjamin Bean, Joshua Bean and his wife, Heidi, Aaron Bean and his wife, Courtney, and Justine Bean; great-grandchildren, Addison, Leland, Delaney, Hadley, Josie, and Raelynn Bean; and a sister, Ellen Harper and her husband, Sam.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Verona United Methodist Church by Pastor Sean Gundry and Pastor Shawna Hiner.
A luncheon and receiving of friends will follow the service, in the fellowship hall.
