Larry William Weatherholtz, 76, of Webster Springs, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.

He was born in Kessel, WV, on December 27, 1947, a son of the late Ethel Virginia Weatherholtz Funk and Junior T. Funk. Larry was also preceded in death by two brothers: Ronald Funk and Michael Funk. On September 16, 1972, he married Charleen Ann Dornon and spent over 50 years together raising their family and enjoying their grandchildren.

Forever cherishing their memories of Larry’s hardworking nature are three children: Billy Weatherholtz and wife, Teresa, of Capon Bridge, Bradley Weatherholtz and wife, Dawn, of French Creek, and Gary Weatherholtz of Webster Springs; eight grandchildren: Felicia, Courtney, Tyler, Garret, Wade, Isabella, Emma, and Ali; five great grandchildren: Xander, Asher, Lorelei, Layla, and Raelynn; three sisters: Judy Hinz and husband, Gunther, of Old Fields, WV, Terry Bierkamp and husband, Scott, of Moorefield, WV, and Edie Hedrick of Upper Tract, WV; several nieces and nephews.

Larry was a man of many skills and passions. After attending Moorefield High School, he bravely served his country as a combat army veteran in Vietnam. Upon his return, he dedicated himself to a successful career in commercial roofing, leaving his mark on the east coast’s skyline. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his craftsmanship was admired by all who had the pleasure of working with him. In his free time, Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating at the lake. He found solace in his garden and peace in the hum of his woodworking tools. His love for tractors was legendary, and he could often be found fixing up old models in his spare time. As Henry David Thoreau once said, “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” Larry saw beauty in the earth beneath his feet, the fish in his line, and the wood beneath his hands.

Larry was an active member of several organizations, including the VFW Post #2102 in Wardensville, the American Legion Post #64 in Moorefield, and the NRA. His friends and family will remember him fondly for his warm heart, his quick wit, and his unwavering dedication to those he loved.

Larry’s request for cremation has been honored by Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon.

We, at Clutter Funeral and Cremation, are honored and privileged to serve the family of Larry William Weatherholtz. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ClutterFuneralHome.com.
