John Deric Coppe, age 55, of Moorefield, WV, passed away Monday afternoon, February 3, 2025, at WVU’s Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser, WV.   He was born on January 21, 1970, in Petersburg, WV.   He was preceded in death by parents Nora Mallow and Dalton and Helen Coppe, along with his sister Michelle Mallow and grandson Brayden Barr.  Brothers H.D. Coppe (Beverly), Michael Mallow (Brooklyn) and sister Lucy Coppe remain as John’s immediate family, along with several nieces and nephews.

John was a 1989 graduate of Moorefield High School, where he played football.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Coppe, and children Samantha (Oscar) and Jessica Coppe,  Allison Elizabeth, CJ Barr(Jen), Hope Olmsted(Steven), Isaiah Barr, grandchildren Brynlee, Aniyah, Gabriel, Noah, Angel, Oscar, Jr.,  Sophia , John Owen, Jax, Maverick, Kash, Baylor, Abel, Ace, Carly, Lorelei and Steven, Jr., who John was pleased to share his birthday with.

John was a true outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish whenever possible.  He also had a great love of bluegrass music.  A plumber by trade, John was handy and could fix almost anything.  He could be found most mornings at McDonald’s, and then later in the day at Chad’s Barber Shop.  He was also a faithful Moorefield High School Yellow Jacket fan, regardless of the season or sport.  He was also a loyal Little League fan as well as umpire.  Little went on in Moorefield that John was not aware of or a part of.

He was a member of the Moorefield Lions Club and attended the Moorefield Assembly of God Church.

Funeral services to celebrate John’s life will be held on Monday, February 10 at 1:00 pm at Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor D.J. Taylor officiant.  Interment will follow in Olivet Cemetery.  The Family will receive visitors from 3-6 pm on Sunday, February 9 at the funeral home.
