It was a divided house in Moorefield as the Yellow Jackets and Cougars shared a game split sundae for the Junior Hardy Boys Hardwood Classic.
East Hardy Middle School 7th grade boys basketball team collected a 32-24 win over the Yellow Jackets in the opener.
The Cougars built a 16-10 halftime lead and held a 22-17 edge entering the fourth period.
Mason Redman scored a game-high 13 points for the 7th grade Yellow Jackets in the loss.
East Hardy Middle School 7th grade team was paced by Chance Hahn with 10 points and Luke Holliday with eight points.
Moorefield Middle School 8th grade boys basketball squad capped off the night with a 52-21 victory over the Cougars and honored the 8th grade basketball players and cheerleaders with a special ceremony.
Moorefield Middle School 8th grade boys basketball players are: Luke Stutler, Zakk Keplinger, Brody Simmons, Raymond “Bill” Ware, Hector Luna-Davy, Eastyn Haines, Nathan Crites, William “Reid” Kump, Matthew Iman, Vance Simmons, Thomas Simmons and Edison Metheny.
The Yellow Jackets buzzed ahead 34-11 in the first half and put the game on cruise control in the second half outscoring the Cougars 18-10 in the second half in the 52-21 win.
Matthew Iman netted a game-high 15 points for the Moorefield Middle School 8th grade squad, followed by Luke Stutler with nine points, Hector Luna-Davy and Edison Metheny added eight points apiece.
East Hardy Middle School 8th grade team was led by Luke Holliday with eight points and Marshall Walker notched eight points in the loss.
