Mary Susan (Donohoe) Funkhouser, 78, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Redstone Highlands in Greensburg, PA. She was born April 28,1946, in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Paul Leo Donohoe and the late Mary Doris (Usher) Donohoe. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wendell A. Funkhouser; and two brothers, Timothy Leo Donohoe, and Peter Leo Donohoe.
Sue grew up in Kensington, Maryland. She earned an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy from Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA. She later moved to Virginia where she met Wendell. Her career with United Airlines gave her the ability to see the world. She loved to travel, see new places, and had many fond memories exploring with friends. She and Wendell retired and moved to the quiet of the country in Baker, West Virginia. Sue was kind, caring and gentle. She was not much of a talker but a great listener and a loyal friend. She loved plants, flowers and gardening as well as yard work and taking long walks. Her greatest joy in life was her family and being a wonderful Mom and Granny.
Mary Susan is survived by her daughter, Nicole (Chris) Pauly; a granddaughter, Alana, and her grandson, Brooks. She is also survived by a sister; Joan Marie Donohoe, a brother; Barry Patrick (Lisa) Donohoe, and stepdaughter; Lisa (Duncan) Stokes and Devon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center- University of Pittsburgh. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Baker, WV.
