Darlene Kathy Cook, age 73 of Moorefield, WV, went to her Heavenly home on Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 2025, at her residence with her loved ones by her side. Born on August 9, 1951, in Romney, WV, she was the daughter of the late Boyd Elwood Lewis and Ollie Catherine Hart Lewis. Her husband, Daniel Cook preceded her in death in January 2003. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Hott, a brother, Raymond Lewis, a grandson, Kendall Barnes and a great-nephew, Kalob Ayers.
Darlene devoted her life to hard work, starting with two decades at Hester Industries before launching her own venture, Darlene’s Tax Preparation, where she passionately served the community for 30 years. She was known for her kindness, dedication, and ability to bring a smile to everyone’s face.
An avid and lifelong fan of the Redskins. One of Darlene’s many hobbies was the love of gambling. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like tending to her garden and making lasting memories with her family and friends.
Surviving is her fiancé, Randy Kincaid; sons, Rocky Barnes (fiancé Stacy Wolford) of Moorefield, WV, Joseph (Kelly) Cook of Weirton, WV and Michael Cook of Moorefield, WV; a special granddaughter, who was the light of her life, Elizabeth Cook; grandson, Cobra Barnes; a special niece, which was like a daughter, Lorrie Wilmer; a special friend for many years, Deby Arbaugh; 3 nieces, 5 nephews, 2 great-nieces and 7 great-nephews and her fur baby, Bentley.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor D. J. Taylor officiant. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM at the Branch Mountain Cemetery, Three Churches, WV. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 PM Monday, March 24, 2025 at the funeral home.
