East Hardy Track and Field have a plethora of skilled athletes returning to push for state tournament glory under the leadership of first year head coach Rachel Schetrom.
East Hardy Track and Field will be guided by seniors: Kelly Flynn (200, 400, 800, relays), Sierra Loulis (high hurdles), Chase Rexrode (shuttle hurdles, 100, 200, relays), Aubrey COwgill (hurdles, 400, 800 relays) and Brayden Gregory (shot put and discus).
The Cougars junior class consists of: Silas Schetrom (100, 200, 400, relays), Khristian Bauserman (hurdle, relays), Aiden Smith (shuttle hurdles, 100, 200, relays), Korbin Miller (shot put and discus), Bodie Brill (shot put and discus), Savannah Wilkins (shot put and discus), Alyssa D’Amico (shot put and discus), Alexis McKinney (200, 400, relays), Morganne Miller (high hurdles, shuttle hurdles, relays), Gracie Heishman (800, 1600, 3200, relays), Nicole Horton (shot put and discus), Evan Hamilton (100, 200, 400, relays) and Mason Hamilton (100, 200, 400, relays).
East Hardy sophomores are: Jonathan Montgomery (1600, 3200), Gideon Good (hurdles), Dayton Dove (100, 200, relays), Brianna Hamilton (800, 1600, 3200), Madison Kerr (high hurdles, shuttle hurdles, relays) and Jaylynn Combs (800, relays).
The Cougars freshmen are: Nehemiah Graham (100, 200, relays, high jump), Angelo Loulis (shuttle hurdles, 400, relays, high jump), Owen Whitacre (800, 1600, 3200) and Hannah Miller (200, 400, relays).
East Hardy Boys Track had earned state silver medals in the 4×100 and 4×200 relays and members from those teams back on the roster include Evan Hamilton, Mason Hamilton and Khristian Bauserman, so there will be spots to fill which could include Hampshire transfer Chase Rexrode, Silas Schetrom, Aiden Smith, Dayton Dove and Nehemiah Graham.
The Cougars return two from last year’s state boys shuttle hurdles bronze medalist quartet: Khristian Bauserman and Gideon Good. East Hardy will look to Agnelo Loulis, Aiden Smith and Chase Rexrode to help form the team.
East Hardy Girls Track garnered a silver medal in the state shuttle hurdles last season and return two from that squad: Morganne Miller and Madison Kerr. The Cougars look to fill the spots with Sierra Loulis and Aubrey Cowgill.
Kerr collected a fourth place state medal in the 100 hurdles and Miller received a fifth place medal in the event.
The top returners in the state for the Cougars are: #1 100 Mason Hamilton, #2 200 Evan Hamilton, #5 400 Evan Hamilton, #7 110 high hurdles Khristian Bauserman, #2 100 high hurdles Madison Kerr and #4 100 high hurdles Morganne Miller.
East Hardy Girls 4×400 relay finished ninth at the state meet last season and return Flynn, Kerr and Miller.
East Hardy Girls 4×800 relay team took 10th place at the state meet and return Flynn and Heishman.
The Cougars will be figuring out the relays for the best results this season and look for individual success to lift the program to state tournament berths and potential medals.
East Hardy Track started the season at Hampshire and travel to Keyser tomorrow and April 1.
The Cougars have home track meets on April 3, April 8 and host the Potomac Valley Conference Championships on May 1.
The regional track meet is in Doddridge County on May 16.
The state track meet is in Charleston on May 23-24.
