East Hardy Varsity Cougars had trouble keeping up with Keyser Varsity Golden Tornado in a 12-1 loss on Saturday.
East Hardy Varsity Cougars were the first to get on the board in the first when an error scored one run.
Keyser Varsity Golden Tornado captured the lead, 4-1, in the bottom of the first when an error scored one run, Cam Larkin doubled, scoring two runs, and Cole Holland singled, scoring one run.
A single by Hunter Harr, a double by Lucas Davy, and a single by Larkin helped Keyser Varsity Golden Tornado extend their early lead in the second.
Keyser Varsity Golden Tornado added one run in the third after Lucas Williamson scored after tagging up.
Jordan Teets led things off on the mound for East Hardy Varsity Cougars. The pitcher surrendered seven hits and eight runs (four earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking three. Layton Valentine stepped on the mound first for Keyser Varsity Golden Tornado. The hurler gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking none.
Shayne Sisler led East Hardy Varsity Cougars with one hit in two at bats.
Keyser Varsity Golden Tornado piled up nine hits in the game. Larkin went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Wes Hahn led Keyser Varsity Golden Tornado with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Williamson stole two bases. Keyser Varsity Golden Tornado stole six bases in the game.
