Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets scored eight runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Strasburg Varsity Rams 9-1 on Thursday. Kerrigan Bergdall tripled, scoring one run, Emmy Crites doubled, scoring two runs, Carlee Haines singled, scoring two runs, Raleigh Kuykendall grounded out, scoring one run, Bergdall drew a walk, scoring one run, and Cici Kump grounded out, scoring one run.
Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets were the first to get on the board in the first when Seanna Heavner grounded out, scoring one run.
Madison Wilkins grounded into a fielder’s choice, which helped Strasburg Varsity Rams tie the game at one in the top of the third.
Annie Barr earned the win for Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets. The righty allowed five hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking one. Ava Mayhew took the loss for Strasburg Varsity Rams. The pitcher went four innings, giving up six runs on six hits, striking out seven and walking three.
Crites drove the middle of the lineup, leading Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Moorefield Varsity Lady Jackets turned one double play in the game.
