The Crazy Ride
by: Eira Evans
A girl went to Disney World. She rode a lot of rides. One ride was really scary. The name of that ride was Expedition Everest. It was scary because the ride went backwards really fast.
The girl screamed when it went backwards, and she put her hands up. She went down a big drop, and she put her hands up. The girl could see the whole park at the top of the ride. She was feeling scared at the top of the ride. All of a sudden, she saw a Yeti almost touching her and growling very loud. She was nervous.
Right then, there was a flash taking her picture. She finally made it to the end of the ride. She was feeling nauseous. Her belly hurt even more after laughing so hard at her picture. Her eyes were about to pop out in the picture. That is her family’s favorite picture now.
A Girl and a Pig
by: Ashlynn Robison
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Ashley who owned pigs. She had a favorite pig named Coco. Coco was a pig that she had raised since she was a baby to show at the county fair. She was working on training Coco so they would be ready for the fair at the end of summer.
One day, Ashley went to the barn to work with Coco and noticed something was wrong with her. Coco would not get up, she just laid there, so Ashley went to the house to get her dad to come and look at Coco. Her dad checked on Coco and decided to call the vet. The vet said he could come out that afternoon to check on Coco.
Once the vet arrived, he took Coco’s temperature and listened to her. He had a very
surprised look on his face as he listened to her tummy. He then checked her feet and legs.
One of her legs was a little bit swollen, so he asked his helper to get the x-ray machine from the truck. The vet did an x-ray and it showed that Coco has broken her ankle. The vet wrapped her leg and gave her some medicine to help make her feel better.
Before leaving the barn, the vet asked Ashley and her dad if they knew that Coco was expecting babies soon. Ashley and her dad did not know. The vet told them to make sure Coco had food and water and to let her rest for a few days to heal her ankle and told them to get things ready for her to have babies. The next day Ashley went to the barn and saw that Coco was up and moving. She was not quite back to herself yet, but Ashley was happy.
The next morning, Ashley checked on Coco but she wasn’t moving around like the day before. Ashley knew that Coco was about to have her babies, and that this was a problem. Ashley decided to call the vet for help again. The vet told Ashley’s dad that he would need to take Coco to the clinic to make sure her leg was healing right. Ashley was sad because Coco had to go with the vet to get better.
Two days later, the vet called and said that Coco’s leg was much better. Then the vet said that Coco did have her babies, and all the babies were girls! The vet told Ashley’s dad to come pick Coco and her babies up that day. When Ashley got back to the house after taking care of her other animals, her dad told her all the good news. Ashley and her dad went to the vet’s clinic right away to pick up Coco and to meet all the new babies. When Coco and the piglets came home, Ashley took good care of them. It was one of the best summers ever!
