East Hardy Girls Track shared the Class A Potomac Valley Conference Track Championship along with the Mountain Lions setting a school record fourth consecutive crown, while the Tucker County Boys Track won the title in Baker.

Rachel Schetrom was selected as the Potomac Valley Conference Girls Track Coach of the Year for the Cougars.

“I’m really proud of my team (boys and girls) for going out and giving it everything. With the girls team winning a co-championship, it makes four back-to-back championships. Being recognized as PVC Girls Track Coach of the Year really speaks to the athletes that we have and their dedication to excellence. The boys team also had outstanding performances taking seven PVC medals and finishing second with only 11 athletes. It was especially exciting to see East Hardy athletes set two new PVC records – Madison Kerr (100 High Hurdles) and Evan Hamilton (200 meters),” East Hardy Track coach Rachel Schetrom remarked.

Chris Wilburn was named the Potomac Valley Conference Boys Track Coach of the Year for Pendleton County.

East Hardy Girls Track joined Tucker County as PVC champions with 116 points, followed by Paw Paw with 90 points, Tygarts Valley with 78 points, Pendleton County with 72 points, Petersburg with 62 points, Union with 30 points and Harman with 15 points.

Tucker County Boys Track won the PVC championship with 178.5 points, followed by East Hardy with 128.5 points, Pendleton County with 127 points, Petersburg with 67 points, Paw Paw with 50 points, Union with 35 points and Tygarts Valley with 4 points.

East Hardy Track won the gold medal in a dozen events overall, including two PVC records set.

East Hardy Girls Track’s Madison Kerr set a new PVC record in the 100 meter high hurdles with a time of 16.07.

Kerr helped the girls shuttle hurdles team win the gold medal in a time of 1:14.15 along with Sierra Loulis, Gracie Heishman and Morganne Miller.

East Hardy Girls Track won the gold medal in the 4×200, 4×400 and 4×800 relays in addition to the shuttles.

East Hardy’s Kelly Flynn joined Aubrey Cowgill, Alexis McKinney and Sierra Loulis on the 4×200 gold medal squad in a time of 2:05.18.

The Cougars 4×400 team won the PVC championship in a time of 4:50.16 with Flynn, Kerr, Loulis and McKinney.

East Hardy Girls Track took the top honors in the 4×800 relay with a time of 12.19.17 with Cowgill, Flynn, Heishman and Brianna Hamilton.

East Hardy Boys Track’s Evan Hamilton set the Potomac Valley Conference record in the 200 meter dash in a time of 23.03.

Hamilton won the PVC gold medal in the 100 meter dash (11.29) and anchored the 4×100 and 4×200 gold medal relay teams.

The Cougars 4×100 relay team took the top honors in a time of 45.14 with Khristian Bauserman, Nehemiah Graham, Chase Rexrode and Hamilton and the same quartet won gold in the 4×200 in 1:36.56.

East Hardy Boys shuttle hurdles team collected the gold medal in a time of 1:05.66 with Bauserman, Rexrode, Angelo Loulis and Chase Rexrode.

East Hardy Boys Track’s Korbin Miller garnered the PVC gold medals in the shot put (36’00.25”) and discus (115’6”).

The East Hardy Girls Track team cemented a legacy with four straight PVC titles and the Boys team had a successful PVC runner-up finish with only 11 athletes taking home seven gold medals.

East Hardy Track is gearing up for the regional meet next week and look to punch tickets to the state meet.
