East Hardy Varsity Cougars Rally Defeats Cameron Varsity Dragons ’25

East Hardy Varsity Cougars trailed by as many as five, but came back to defeat Cameron Varsity Dragons ’25 on Saturday at 238 Cougar Drive, 8-6.

Cameron Varsity Dragons ’25 got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kason Angel singled to center field, and Zayde Long grounded out, each scoring one run.

Cameron Varsity Dragons ’25 extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Kason Angel and Zayde Long.

East Hardy Varsity Cougars jumped into the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Patrick Mills singled, scoring one run, Garrett Van Meter hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.

Dayton Dove began the game for East Hardy Varsity Cougars. The right-handed pitcher allowed seven hits and five runs (four earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking five. Kason Angel stepped on the bump first for Cameron Varsity Dragons ’25. The starter allowed five hits and seven runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking four. Krystian Byram and Garrett Van Meter each appeared in relief for East Hardy Varsity Cougars.

Garrett Van Meter provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led East Hardy Varsity Cougars with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Shayne Sisler went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead East Hardy Varsity Cougars in hits. East Hardy Varsity Cougars ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. East Hardy Varsity Cougars turned one double play in the game.

Kason Angel and Soier Reed were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Cameron Varsity Dragons ’25. Kason Angel went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Billy Patterson paced Cameron Varsity Dragons ’25 with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Zayde Long stole two bases. Cameron Varsity Dragons ’25 ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for the game. Cameron Varsity Dragons ’25 turned one double play in the game.

East Hardy Varsity Cougars play at home on Tuesday against Musselman Varsity Applemen in their next game.
