The Bice-Ferguson Memorial Museum currently has a display of artwork from the Dabblers Art Group through the end of June. This group of ladies met weekly at the Lowe Public Library in the 70’s through the early 2000s.
The Dabblers brought in speakers who taught different techniques and went on field trips to draw and paint various landscapes and buildings. Mostly, they enjoyed painting and drawing together.
Many of the Dabblers rendered locations and buildings around the area that have been changed or even lost. Works of Beverly Paushel, Deloris Minor, Billie Maul, Lois Ruckman, Jean McCoy, Eva Lane and others are on display.
Also on display are some scenes by Nettie B. Cooper, who wrote the History of Prospect Valley in 1940. The Bice-Ferguson Memorial Museum is located in the heart of downtown Shinnston.
It is open through October on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Appointments can also me made outside of these hours by texting Director Debra Herndon at 304-677-6650.
