WVSSAC and Chick-fil-A Extend High School Sports Partnership

The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission (WVSSAC) and the Chick-fil-A owner-operators of West Virginia have announced an extension of its corporate partnership that promotes high school athletics throughout West Virginia.

”We are excited to announce the extension of our partnership with Chick-fil-A which has proven to be a great benefit to West Virginia’s high school student-athletes,” said WVSSAC Executive Director David Price. “Chick-fil-A has exhibited its strong commitment to our communities, our schools and our student-athletes.In addition to serving as a WVSSAC Corporate Champion, Chick-fil-A is the popular presenting sponsor of the WVSSAC State High School Girls and Boys Basketball Championships at the Charleston (W.Va.)

Coliseum.Chick-fil-A also serves as presenting the WVSSAC State High School Girls and Boys CrossCountry Championships in Ona.”Chick-fil-A stores across the state have always supported their local high schools and youth sports program,” says Lisa Holt, Chick-fil-A owner-operator in Morgantown.”We are thrilled with the reception we have received from students and fans as the presenting sponsor of the state’s basketball and cross country championships and other high school events,” says Tom Minturn, Chick-fil-A owner-operator inCharleston.

Chick-fil-A and the WVSSAC also collaborate with a leadership training program for both student-athletes and coaches.”Chick-fil-A has a leadership training program that is second to none,” says George Angelos, Chick-fil-A’s owner-operator in Vienna/Parkersburg.

“The Chick-fil-A corporate office is generously lending its expertise to a program developed specifically for West Virginia students and coaches.”The Chick-fil-A Leadership Summit is held each September in Charleston and Fairmont, hosting four student-athletes and a coach from every high school in the state. More than 1,200 youth have participated in the Summit since 2022.

The participating Chick-fil-A stores include Barboursville, Beckley, Bluefield, Bridgeport, Charleston, Clarksburg, Martinsburg, Morgantown, Princeton, South Charleston, Ranson, Triadelphia/Wheeling, and Vienna/Parkersburg.
