
East Hardy High School students had a successful trip to Charleston to the West Virginia State Social Studies Fair in April. Accompanied by teachers Henry Hodges and Jeanie Brown, nine East Hardy students made the trip to Charleston to join more than 500 participants from 43 different counties in presenting their expertise in various fields of social studies.
East Hardy’s scholars included freshmen Jordan McGee and Emily Weaver; juniors Bodie Brill, Eli Combs, Alyssa D’Amico, Chloe D’Amico, Albert Lermineaux, and Haley Twigg; and senior Sadie Shields.
Students bringing home state medals were: Sadie Shields, Second Place in the State and Local History category for her project “Thunder in the Mountains: The West Virginia Mine Wars; Alyssa and Chloe D’Amico, Second Place in the U.S. History category for their project “The Assassinations of Garfield and McKinley; and Haley Twigg, Second Place in the Political Science category for her project “Propaganda in World War I.”
