Richard Ward Crites II age 60 of Moorefield, WV passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025 as a result of an automobile accident.  Richard was born on November 17, 1964 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Richard Ward Crites and Donna Sue (Mongold)  Crites Myers of Martinsburg, WV.

In addition to his mother, Donna Myers of Martinsburg, WV and step-father, Delmas Myers of Moorefield, WV,  Richard is survived by his wife of 42years Debria (Thorne) Crites, one son, Joshua Aaron Crites (Beth) of Moorefield, WV, one daughter, Stephanie Dawn (Crites) Whetzel (Joseph) of Moorefield, WV, four grandchildren Skyler Brooke Crites, Blake Aaron Anthony Crites, Haidan Autumn Whetzel and Kowen Allen Whetzel, three step grandchildren Justin Whetzel, Triston Whetzel and Madison Whetzel, two brothers, Troy Crites and wife Robin of Martinsburg, WV and Patrick Crites of Martinsburg, WV, two sisters Jennifer (Myers) Ours of Moorefield, WV and Lisa Crites of Moorefield, WV, mother-in-law Shirley Thorne of Dorcas, WV, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He also had some very special friends Jimmy Franz, Tim Berg, Doug Neff, J.D. Hinkle, and Galen Cain.

Richard was self- employed “Crites Excavating” and was also working for Scott’s Excavating. He worked for Tri-County Tool Rentals, Danella Construction and Utilx for several years. He started out at a young age catching chickens, then hanging live chickens for Rockingham and later working for the sanitation department and also a short time for Hi Vac. He was always very active and would help anyone at any time. There was nothing he couldn’t do.

Richard loved spending a lot of time with the love of his life, children and grandchildren. He loved riding every weekend with his wife and sometimes grandchildren up to the camp. He enjoyed the outdoors and couldn’t wait for deer season to get here so he could go to the mountain hunting with his buddies. He had a heart of gold and at the same time could voice his opinion.

Memorial donations may be made to the Crites family, c/o Debria S. Crites, 62 Valley View Road, Moorefield, WV 26836.
