Hardy County Spring Sports Awards

East Hardy Boys Track

It was a banner year for Hardy County Spring Sports as the East Hardy Baseball team won the Class A state championship for the first time in 38 years an second straight Charleston trip to complete the Hardy County sports season, Moorefield Boys Tennis returned to the state tournament for the second consecutive year in Charleston, East Hardy Girls Track’s Madison Kerr won the state championship gold medal for the 100 meter high hurdles leading the Cougars to 20 state medals, Moorefield Track collected 19 state medals, and Moorefield and East Hardy Softball teams reached the sectional championship games.

East Hardy Baseball will have an awards picnic in late July, so stay tuned to find out who will be receiving more hardware for the state champions.

Moorefield Baseball recognized its most outstanding senior Ben Watts and Coach Wade Armentrout noted his exceptional leadership by example.

Moorefield Boys Tennis honored its most outstanding senior Lian Mung, who finished his senior campaign as the top seed with state tournament appearances as a team member and in singles competition.

Moorefield Girls Tennis recognized its most outstanding senior Courtlynn Ault for her commitment to playing on the court.

Moorefield Softball honored its most outstanding senior Carlee Haines, who will be playing collegiate softball for Potomac State College and was noted for her dedication, quick wit and knowledge of the sport.

Moorefield Girls Track recognized its most outstanding senior Sydney Rumer, who helped two relay teams earn medals at the state meet.

Moorefield Boys Track team honored its most outstanding senior Diego Taylor, who helped two relay teams collect medals at the state meet and will be joining the new Potomac State College Track team.

East Hardy Softball honored Addison Armentrout with two awards for Best Batting Average (.389) and Runs Scored Leader (15).

East Hardy Softball recognized Gracie Heishman with the Most Improved Award having a .317 batting average.

East Hardy Softball honored Ginger Combs with the Most Valuable Pitcher Award. Combs tossed 47 strikeouts in 70 innings pitched.

East Hardy Boys Track awards were given in honor of high points and leadership as captain: Khristian Bauserman (Track Upperclassman High Point), Gideon Good (Track Underclassman High Point), Korbin Miller (Field High Point), Jonathan Montgomery (Captain).

East Hardy Girls Track awards were presented in recognition of high points and captain leadership: Morgan Miller (Track Upperclassman High Point), Madison Kerr (Track Underclassman High Point), Savannah Wilkins (Field High Point) and Alexis McKinney (Captain).

Hardy County Spring Sports teams showed amazing success on and off the field, including state tournament appearances and state championships.
