Susan Elaine Wilson Johnson, 65, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on December 28, 2024, at the Hospice of the Panhandle in Kearneysville, WV. Born on December 29, 1958, she was the daughter of Betty C. Wilson and the late Robert W. Wilson of Moorefield, WV.
She is survived by her daughter Lauren Johnson and her partner Jeff White of Martinsburg, WV, and two grandchildren, Kollyn Seekford of Gerrardstown, WV, and Klaire White of Martinsburg.
In addition to her mother, Susie leaves behind her sisters Jeanne Wilson (Robert Porter) of Falls Church, VA; Barbara Bryant of Martinsburg, WV; Deanna Wilson (James Cavanagh) of Alexandria, VA; Pamela Wilson (Greg Liller) of Franklin, WV; her brother Scott Wilson and his wife Samantha of Moorefield; and many nieces and nephews.
Susie graduated from Moorefield High School and the James Rumsey Technical Institute in Martinsburg, WV. She had a wide and varied career which started in high school working at Lang’s Pharmacy in Moorefield, then planting trees as part of a West Virginia forestry program, receiving her licensed practical nursing degree, completing a course in welding, owning and managing a bar and a restaurant, working as a quality control specialist, co-owning a small trucking firm, and managing the office of a medical practice.
A strong-willed and independent woman, Susie loved her family fiercely and was a loyal and fun-loving friend. She was an avid WVU Mountaineer fan, enjoyed fishing, planting a large vegetable and flower garden each spring, and spending time at the beach. Her love for seafood was shared with family and friends with shrimp and fried oyster dinners which always included her famous crab dip. Her ready smile and easy laugh will be greatly missed.
