Wanda Renee Bowman, our earthly angel, has received her angel wings and is now in Heaven with the “Big G” and the “Little J” her heavenly father, lord and savior.
Wanda, age 67 of Rockingham, VA passed into the arms of her heavenly father on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at English Meadows in Harrisonburg following an extended illness. Born October 16, 1957 she was the youngest child of the late Dwight Woodrow and Beulah See Bowman of Mathias, WV.
Wanda excelled in her education and graduated Mathias High School as valedictorian in 1975. In 1979 she graduated summa cum laude from Shepherd University, Shepherdstown, WV with a Bachelor of Science in accounting and computer science.
During summer breaks from the university she worked at the Lost River State Park; always enjoying the mountains, wildlife and people around her. Upon graduation, she was employed by Rubbermaid in Winchester, VA for five years. She then moved to Harrisonburg, VA and began work at Merck in Elkton, VA. Following retirement from Merck she started her own business, Bowman Gifts with her family.
After her father passed in 1980, Wanda was especially close to her mother. She was a great support to her, spending many weekends in WV. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Wanda loved cats all her life and her time with her furry companion Boo was treasured.
Through this very difficult illness, her faith kept her strong. She had a close relationship with her “Big G” and knew HE would be her guide as she accepted her advanced diagnosis and began her journey to Heaven. When her visitors and family left her room she always reassured them that God and her guardian angels were watching over her. Wanda will be remembered by her family and caretakers for her “Amens” and “God Bless You’s”.
Wanda is survived by brothers Larry (Kay) Bowman, Carl (Carolyn) Bowman; sisters Sherry (Richard) Branson, Brenda (Calvin) Lantz, Lana (Mario) Villalobos; nephews Terry Bowman, Trent (Lindsey) Bowman, Trevor (Sharon) Bowman, John Moyers, Jr., Rhyan (France) Branson; nieces Rhonda (Dwayne) Constable, Lynise (Mark) Fansler, Ginger (Richard) Puffenbarger; many great, grand and step nieces and nephews.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Legacy Hospice and English Meadows staff members for their many acts of kindness, patience, friendship and gentle care Wanda received. To all those who brought burgers, shakes, pizza and other treats, please know she appreciated it greatly! We pray you will be blessed in return. Amen.
